White Pine Reading Club Again, check with the library to find out more information about this fun book club. The TEN White Pine books will be officially announced on Tuesday, October 15th. Ask the librarians for more info.
The White Pine Reading Club is part of "The Forest of Reading" sponsored by the Ontario Library Association. It's a contest in some ways. The winner is an author. And we vote for him or her when we choose, from the ten books we read, which is the absolute best book. The vote is across Ontario and it ends in a celebration and awards ceremony at Harbourfront in May. We meet, talk about books, enjoy games and delicious cookies, attend the award ceremony downtown and have a couple of the writers out to talk to us about their ideas and their careers.
Last year's winner's books are in the library--they are great reads! Actually, there are authors and books from the previous to last year and the year previous to that one too. They're excellent--and why not, they were the top ten of that year!
